Asian Family Fears Racial Targeting After Multiple Shots Fired at Their Metro Atlanta Home

An Asian American household is fearing for his or her lives, believing they had been racially focused after bullets had been sprayed at their residence in metro Atlanta.

Homeowners Nikki and Johnny Hang described how somebody began capturing at their home on their quiet cul-de-sac at Magnolia Place, Lawrenceville final Saturday night time, reported 11Alive.

 

“I heard like someone dropped a big glass bowl on the floor, like…clang! And then, it was just like…pow, pow, pow!” Nikki stated.

The couple was residence with their 4 kids after they realized they had been listening to gunshots and instantly known as police, reported CBS46.

Nikki instructed her household to get down as bullets flew, penetrating partitions in the home, hitting their roof, home windows and components of their kids’s bedrooms. Several shell casings had been discovered exterior the household’s home by an officer that arrived on the scene.

“If it went one way, it would’ve hit the other person. If it went the other way, it might’ve hit the other person and that would’ve been devastating. But, God was protecting us,” Johnny stated.

While the Hangs are grateful nobody was harmed, they feared somebody selected their residence due to their race.

The household, who moved to the realm two months in the past, is the one Asian family within the cul-de-sac and certainly one of few Asian households in the whole neighborhood.

“We don’t know the motive behind this so they were scared,” Nikki added. “What if someone’s out there waiting for us?”

A neighbor witnessed what seemed to be a Black Mustang with its mild off pull up throughout the victims’ home, authorities stated.

Neither the couple nor their kids might consider anybody that may wish to hurt them when requested by authorities.

Authorities are investigating the incident. Evidence needs to be identified that the family was “focused particularly” before it’s a hate crime, Gwinnett County Police said.
